WE ARE SWINERTON RENEWABLE ENERGY

Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE) provides a full array of solar photovoltaic (PV) services, including; engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance (SOLV), project feasibility analysis, energy performance analysis, portfolio monitoring solutions, and long term performance guarantees.

Swinerton’s entry into the renewable energy sector was spurred by a demand for more energy efficient buildings from our existing clientele. In 2000, we began installing small commercial PV systems throughout California, including a rooftop installation at our IT hub in Concord.

In 2008, we formed Swinerton Renewable Energy, a division of Swinerton Builders. We did so in anticipation of rapid growth in the PV market following the federal ITC (Investment Tax Credit) extension. Our initial target market was behind-the-meter solar for existing clients, including 15 PV installations for Kaiser Permanente in Northern and Southern California.

As the solar sector matured, however, SRE quickly pivoted towards utility-scale opportunities. Today we deliver EPC and SOLV services for both utility and commercial/industrial clients. Having completed over 1 GW of PV jobs, SRE enjoys robust procurement leverage across the supply chain. As a result, our plants are best-in-class and highly cost competitive. We also offer SOLV services for projects built by other EPC contractors. Our SOLV team currently manages over 3.25 GW of PV plants throughout North America.

SRE’s frontline engineering approach is informed by real-time analysis of plant performance on over 100 utility-scale installations. Insight gained from this robust data set enables us to optimally balance first-cost, life cycle maintenance, and energy yield objectives. From our perspective, these services are vital to long term, comprehensive asset optimization for our clients.

As a testament to our proven performance, we have earned repeat business with over 90% of our solar clientele.

FROM OUR INCEPTION IN 1888, SWINERTON BUILDERS HAS BEEN A FORWARD-THINKING COMPANY THAT TARGETS STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITIES

SAFETY & QUALITY ABOVE ALL ELSE

Swinerton's commitment to safety is embodied in our motto, "Your Family Needs You". SRE is nationally recognized for providing qualified and experienced solar power technicians who are trained, certified, and held to the highest safety standards in the industry. SRE divisional employees are appropriately OSHA-30 Certified, Arc Flash Safety Trained and STS Certified.

Swinerton Renewable Energy takes a unique approach towards communicating safety in the field where it is needed most. We host a morning daily safety huddle where all workers, supervisors, and subcontractors receive safety training on a variety of subjects. When performing solar system duties in the field, our skilled professionals and field technicians receive further training to optimize safety.

All employees in the field must wear personal protective equipment based on the hazard identified in pre-task planning. At a minimum, all workers wear high reflective garments, hard hats, boots, ANSI rates safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and snake guards. We also deploy hydration vehicles, while our heat prevention ambassadors mandate that workers regularly visit on-site cooling stations. Employees also have full-time access to SwinNet whenever they need further safety information and instructions.

WE STIMULATE LOCAL ECONOMIES THROUGH SOLAR

As a 100% employee-owned company, Swinerton Builders appreciates the importance of giving back to our communities. Throughout our 128-year history, we have taken pride in the fact that we live and work in the communities in which we build.

We understand that for utility-scale solar in particular, it is vitally important to focus on creating both current and long-term employment opportunities. Since these projects tend to be located in remote regions with otherwise limited economic resources, it takes a concentrated effort to make this possible.

On all our projects, we are fully committed to utilizing local workforce to the greatest extent possible. In doing so, we provide a long-lasting stimulus to the local economy. We view utility-scale solar developments as opportunities to train and prepare the local workforce for future solar projects in the area. On average, we source over 80% of our project workforce from the local community.

Beyond the employment opportunities created during the construction phase, we also see an opportunity to generate long-term local jobs through our projects. Specifically, ongoing services are required to meet the operational and maintenance (SOLV®) needs of solar facilities. We seek to utilize local workforce to the greatest extent possible to meet SOLV needs.
