Light Up Navajo

Located just a few miles from the iconic Monument Valley, the Kayenta Solar Plant is a landmark in itself. The first tribally developed, owned and operated solar facility in the United States, the energy and revenue generated by this 55 MW plant will directly benefit the Navajo people and drive the continued electrification of this vast and remote region.

The Lightmakers Project

To accelerate change on a local level, SRE partnered with the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority's (NTUA) Renewable Energy Specialist to identify several families living without access to the grid. Equipped with kits from Goal Zero, small teams of SRE and SOLV employees traveled to the Navajo Nation to install small solar-powered charging and light sources in 30 homes over the course of two trips.
