Kelvin Gomez Assistant Project Manager

What are three skills or traits that are essential to your job? Leadership, organization, attention to detail.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Tijuana, Mexico. I lived there until I was 13 years old, it was when my mother decided to bring my 2 brothers and I to the USA. I started school in 6th grade in San Diego but crossed the border every day for 3 years.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in the past year? Starting the work organized will help the overall project and ease transition to completion. Doesn’t matter how much work or emails come through early on in the project, it is crucial to invest in getting organized.

What was the most unexpectedly interesting place you’ve traveled to for work? Destin, Florida. Prior to moving to Florida to build the three Gulf Coast Solar Projects, I did not know Destin existed on the map. It is unusual that we get to build next to the beach in a well-populated area. I felt in love with the town, beach, food and everything Destin has to offer. I will definitely be back.

What is something you've never done but would like to try? Race the Baja 1000. Ever since I was child it has been my dream to participate in what people call the most challenging non-stop off-road race in the world. The Baja 1000 starts just down the block in Ensenada. I currently own a dirt bike and can't wait to start practicing to race this race.

What’s one of your favorite phrases or quotes? “I want what is coming to me, the world and everything in it." -Tony Montana

What is something that everyone looks stupid doing? Sagging their pants and playing Marco Polo

Where’s Waldo? In chichenitza on top of El Castillo drinking coffee with Jesus Christ & Moctezuma
